Last week we had a lot of northerners here on holiday. One of the groups came and saw us at the end of their trip and said that it was one of the best weeks fishing they have ever had. On day 1 they fished Willow Pool and Mick Jones, the party organiser, had 88 carp between 4 and 10lbs for over 450lbs with worm and caster on peg 59.
Day 2 was on Mill Pool and Phil Stiles reported catching carp, bream and loads of crucians with pellet and meat for an estimated weight of over 200 lb.
Day 3 was on Mucky Meadow Pool and Dave Roule caught 50 carp to 12 lbs on pellet and paste (catfood flavour) he had a bag of over 300 lb.
Day 4 was on Furnace Pool and Roy Barlow fished the surface on peg 19 to catch carp all day long from when he first set up to when we had to kick him off so I could lock up and have my dinner, he said his arm was dropping off!
Best bait this week has been 4 or 6 mm feed pellets with 6 mm hookers or worm and caster.
