23 anglers took part in the Sunday open at Furnace Mill Fishery this week and the match was on Mucky Meadow and Willow Pools.  Fish were caught steadily throughout the day which was dry and sunny but it was chilly for most of the day. Kev Williams, Wolverhampton, won the match with 136 lb 1 oz. He fished corn over caster down the edge on peg 48. In second place was Steve Harris, Daiwa Gordon League, with 123 lb 14 oz from peg 53. 3rd place went to Andy Newton next door on peg 54, he landed 110 lb 4 oz.
Tony Williams, Button Oak, came in 4th with 97 lb 9 oz from peg 46 and the best weight on Willow Pool was Duncan Newton, Redditch, on peg 74 with 84 lb 13 oz.

4 and 6 mm feed pellets are fishing better than other baits at the moment with the 6 mm expander or a small cube of meat on the hook.  Plumb the depth accurately and fish with the hook bait just tip-toeing on the bottom.  To get the fish up in the water adjust your feed pattern and the fish will come up off the bottom to compete for the bait.
