What a cold windy day! They say that when the winds from the East the fish bite least but that wasn't the case here at Furnace Mill Fishery this week. Dean Sheldon, SBS, was the victor with 112 lb 2 oz from peg 2 on Furnace Pool. Dean used pellet and corn and fished out towards the middle to land some top quality fish.
Darren Fisher, Alan's Tackle, took second place with 96 lb 10 oz from peg 5 and in 3rd with the best weight on Mucky Meadow was Max Galaszewski, Storeys, with 82 lb 4 oz from peg 50. 4th and 5th were very close with Kev Williams, Wolverhampton, (peg 12 Furnace) having the edge over Steve Harris, SBS, (peg 32 Mucky) with 70 lb 4 oz to Steve's 70 lb 2 oz.
Over breakfast in the cafe there had been chat that it would be a hard days fishing because of the vast amount of rain that we had had overnight and the big drop in temperature, but this was obviously not the case as 60 lb 4 oz was only enough to secure 10th place today. Lots of top quality roach were landed too with 34 lb 2 oz coming from peg 28 on Furnace. Pleasure anglers also did well in the cold wind landing carp to 14 lb and mixed bags of roach, tench, chub and bream.
