Sunday 7th February 2010

Kevin Williams wins the open with a cracking bag of silver fish including roach, skimmers, perch and some superb golden orfe giving him a silver weight of 33 lb 6 oz and a combined weight of 46 lb 4 oz.

Kev Williams with his 33lb 6oz catch of roach

Kevin Williams, Wolverhampton, fished maggot at 7 metres from peg 38 on Mucky Meadow to land his silver fish and a few carp. Tim Jones, Golden Maggot, came in second with 41 lb 2 oz of carp from peg 50 and in third was Colin Matthews, Furnace Mill, with 31 lb 4 oz of carp and roach from peg 36.

dsc02754The best weight on Mucky Meadow was Paul Evans, Storeys, fishing caster at 11 metres from peg 28 he landed 28 lb 7 oz of roach (he counted 103!), he was closely followed by Paul Cook, Mark's Tackle, with 27 lb of carp from peg 22.

The weather was cold and damp all day and although the fishing was hard due to the water being cold the roach provided some good sport.  The carp that came out were good sizes with Kevin Orme landing 2 fish for 24 lb.
