Open Match 11th December 2011

E-mail Print
The penultimate match before Christmas was a cold one! All the pools had been covered with ice the day before but the milder and windier night thawed them out in time for the Sunday Open. The threat of storms seemed to put a few off so not as many as usual fished the match which was held on Mucky Meadow Pool. In first place was Mick Round, Old Dial AC, with 53 lb 2 oz from peg 36. Mick used maggot on the bottom towards the middle of the pool and caught carp to 7 lb.
In second place was Daz Randle, Mosella BC, with 32 lb from the much fancied peg 38, he used pellet down the edge. Dean Sheldon, Fosters, came in third place having been 'ounced' by his friend with 31 lb 15 oz from peg 52.
Paul Evans fished peg 32 and had a nice bag of roach, chub and bream using caster to win the silver prize.

Alan Morton from Walsall was pleasure fishing on Willow Pool and had bream, roach and chub from peg 59 - no carp. He used caster and started on the bottom at about 5 metres but as the day wore on he came up in the water. He estimates about 50 lb all told.
