Open Match 6th June 2010

The heavens opened just after the draw so the 29 anglers who took part in this weeks Sunday open match got rather wet setting up!  Daryl Hawthorne took the honours landing 127 lb 15 oz from peg 52 on Mucky Meadow .  Daryl who fishes for Steven's Tackle used meat and pellet to good effect.  In second was Paul Cook, Mark's Tackle, fishing maggot over pellet he landed 112 lb 2 oz from peg 38.

Open Match 23rd May 2010

What a hot sunny day! Although there has been plenty of spawning activity over the last five days there were still plenty of fish willing to feed. Steve Harris, SBS, won the Sunday Open here at Furnace Mill Fishery with 116 lb 9 oz of mainly carp. Steve fished peg 52 on Mucky Meadow Pool using pellet and corn to good effect both in the margins and approximately 8 metres out on the bottom.
Kev Williams, Wolverhampton, came second on peg 74 on Willow Pool, he fished pellet and meat down the margins to land

Open Match 9th May 2010

What is the matter with the weather? What a cold and windy day and we are in May!
The open was on Mucky Meadow and Mill Pools this week and we had 18 fishing.  The winner was Darren Fisher, Alan's Tackle, with 117 lb 3 oz from peg 36 on Mucky.

Open Match 25th April 2010

It was all about personal bests this week with over 1300 lb of fish being caught in the Sunday Open, in one section all but one landed over 100 lb of fish. The winner overall was Andy Newton, Furnace Mill, he produced his best ever catch here with 183 lb 15 oz from peg 51 on Mucky Meadow.

Open Match 16th May 2010

Afterthe cold frosty nights this week we were not really sure what to expect from the open.  Chris Bradney, Steven's Tackle, took the top slot easily with a catch of 116 lb 9 oz from peg 24 on Furnace Pool. He fished pellet, meat and corn taking most of his carp from the margins, he landed plenty of carp with some into 12lbs. Colin Matthews, Furnace Mill, came second from peg 8 with 80 lb 12 oz. He too took large carp from the margins using meat and pellet.

Open Match 2nd May 2010

What a cold windy day! They say that when the winds from the East the fish bite least but that wasn't the case here at Furnace Mill Fishery this week. Dean Sheldon, SBS, was the victor with 112 lb 2 oz from peg 2 on Furnace Pool.  Dean used pellet and corn and fished out towards the middle to land some top quality fish.

Open Match 18th April 2010

The Sunday afternoon opens got off to a flying start with a personal best for Dave Morris, DLM Tiling, he landed 101 lb 15 oz from peg 74 on Willow Pool to win. 2nd and third were very close with only 6 oz between them!
