The Sunday Open was a little quieter this week at Furnace Mill Fishery with a couple of the regulars on holiday - I meant because of the numbers not the noise level............ or did I? 18 anglers took part and in first place was Kev Johnson, Mark's Tackle, with 109 lb 3 oz from peg 8 on Furnace Pool. Duncan Newton, Redditch, came 2nd from peg 62 on Willow Pool with 98 lb 11 oz which included nearly 15 lb of roach. 3rd place went to Paul Cook, Mark's Tackle, with 97 lb 14 oz of carp from peg 5.

Summer League Table 2010

E-mail Print

This is week number 13  of the Summer League/Accumulator for 2010 and here is the points table. You will see that we have quite a few tied points because this year we are awarding section points, we hope that this will give more people a chance to win the league and also make it more interesting.  Should there be a tie at the end of the league the winner will be the angler with the highest catch weight.

It has been hot at the Furnace this week with lots of fish being caught on the pellet on all the pools. The most productive way of presenting your bait is to plumb the depth accurately and have your bait just touching the bottom and then feed little and often.  Some people see fish on the top or near the surface but this is only a tiny fraction of the population. If you want to fish up in the water you can adopt a different approach to encourage the fish to compete for the feed shallow, but you must get the feed pattern right, as all the really big bags of fish between 100 lbs and 200 lbs are caught with bait fished at exact depth.
Steve Barnes from Dudley had non-stop action on peg 10 on Furnace landing 80 carp between 3 and 8 lb.

Open Match 27th June 2010

What a day, some of the lads wanted to watch a football match that was going on in South Africa so they decided to have a morning open match and forego their league points.  10 anglers took part and fished in the morning on Mucky Meadow Pool.  14 others probably made the right choice and didn't bother with the footie and had the league match in the afternoon on Mucky and Furnace Pools.
